The Valleytown Cultural Arts and Historical Society was organized by Andrews Chamber of Commerce members in 1986, in order to preserve the beautiful 1923 structure that had been the First Baptist Church of Andrews. Through the efforts of this non-profit organization, this cultural arts center is on the National Register of Historical Places.
A massive grant writing and fund–raising effort supported by the entire community went into action and the building was purchased in June of 1986 from the First Baptist Church specifically for the purpose of providing a facility for the community to have performing and visual arts entertainment and enrichment. In the years since the purchase of the building, the Cultural Arts & Historical Society has provided innumerable arts events for community enjoyment.
The mission of the Andrews Art Museum is to give artists, writers, and musicians the opportunity to gain exposure by participating in exhibits and shows throughout the year and to continue to promote Andrews NC as a notable destination for art.
Community Youth Players began back in the 1970’s when a group of people wanted to bring live theater opportunities to our town of Andrews, NC. What started out as one show a year has now grown to doing 5 productions from September to May including a Dessert theater show and a Dinner Show.
We recently added an adult group “ACT2” (Adult Community Theater-the second group). Several of our adult actors were involved in theater when they were younger and love coming back to the stage.
